Minimum Requirements

To qualify for rewards within the Vana ecosystem, DataDAOs must meet the following minimum requirements.

These requirements, outlined in VRC-5, are designed to help DataDAOs contribute effectively to the network while maintaining eligibility for staking and rewards.

Verification Strategy

  1. Proof of Contribution

DataDAOs must establish and publish a document about their data verification process to ensure that the data collected adheres to the following principles:

  • Authenticity: Data must be verified as genuine and untampered. This ensures trustworthiness across the ecosystem.
  • Ownership: Contributors must have legitimate ownership of the data they submit.
  • Quality: Data must meet high standards of accuracy and relevance to maintain the integrity of the pool.
  • Uniqueness: Contributions must be distinct and non-duplicative to avoid redundancies and ensure diversity of data.

Media and Communication Requirements

  1. Web Presence

DataDAOs must maintain an active, publicly accessible website that serves as a hub for information about their product.

  1. Public Communication Channels

Maintain active communication channels such as Twitter, Discord or Telegram. These channels should have regular updates to ensure transparency and community engagement.

  1. Social Media Engagement

Regularly engage with contributors and the broader ecosystem via social media to build trust and participation.

Contributor Interface and Documentation

  1. Data Contributor Interface

Provide a user-friendly interface for data submission. It could be a website, browser extension, Telegram bot, or something else.

  1. Data Schema Documentation

Maintain clear and publicly accessible documentation outlining the format of the data being collected. This ensures transparency for contributors and requesters.

On-chain Metrics

  1. Minimum Contributor Threshold

To demonstrate active participation and ensure meaningful contributions, DataDAOs must have at least 100 unique contributors with verified files recorded on-chain.

To qualify as unique contributors, users must call the addProof method in the DataRegistry with the corresponding DLP ID attached. This method is automatically called if the DataDAO uses Vana’s TEEs.

  1. Minimum Stake Requirement

To qualify for rewards, DataDAOs must also meet the minimum stake requirement of 10,000 VANA. This ensures that DataDAOs have sufficient economic participation in the ecosystem to align incentives and maintain network stability.

How It Works

Visibility in DataHub

  • Starting at Epoch 2, all DataDAOs’ readiness status will be displayed in the DataHub.
  • A 7-day grace period will apply to existing DataDAOs to address missing requirements.
  • Non-compliant DataDAOs will display "Unverified" warning after the grace period.

Smart Contract Integration

  • Only compliant DataDAOs will remain eligible for rewards in Epoch 2 and further.
  • Users will be not be restricted from staking with non-compliant DataDAOs, but they won't receive rewards

For DataDAO Creators

By meeting these requirements, your DataDAO remains eligible for rewards and contributes to a stronger, more transparent Vana ecosystem.
